You will see that when you download the free report you are asked for an unlock code the first time that you open it. When you click on the link to get the code you are asked to input your name and email. The link for the unlock code is then sent to you as an autoresponder message. You are now on my list!

This is a new twist on the standard opt-in and squeeze page method of building a list.

The reason that this method works so well is that the person has already taken the time to download the report, they have opened it and so they are clearly interested in the content. Having got that far, most people will gladly give you their details in order to get the unlock code and complete the process. It’s basic human nature – people don’t like things that are incomplete.

Also, if you think about it, software vendors have been doing this for years with their products so people are already accustomed to it.
